Soror Spotlight: Michelle Barnes

 

Soror Michelle Barnes has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta for over 44 years. Initiated into the Delta Upsilon Chapter at Western Michigan University in 1964, Soror Barnes went on to establish not only a loving family with husband James and daughters Angela, Alicia and Erin who pledged at FAMU; but an Alumnae chapter as well in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  When Soror Barnes is not working for Delta she enjoys reading and traveling.  She's currently reading The Secret Lives of Bess and proclaiming sailing the British Virgin Islands as her favorite traveling adventure.  Soror Barnes likes to stay atop of current affairs through her favorite website First Read on MSNBC as well as attending church at St. James United Methodist Church.  Soror Barnes lives her life according to her favority quote:  Live simply so others may simply live!  While working in Delta, Soror Barnes believes that, "service is our goal, sisterhood is our bond".  She is one of Marietta-Roswell charter members.
Soror Spotlight: Karen Ashley

Soror Karen Ashley was born in Frankfurt Germany on July 2, 1964. She was initiated into the Zeta-Eta chapter in the Fall of 1984 at the University of North Texas. Soror Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development. She currently works for the Southern Company as a Human Resource Manger. In her spare time Soror Ashley loves salsa dancing and golf and is currently working to perfect them both! Soror Ashley is MRAC Chaplain Committee Chair and she is a member of the Cotillion and Scholarship committees.
