Tribute to Soror Brenda Haywood

Soror Brenda Haywood led an exemplary life committed to our ideals of sisterhood and service as proven by the details of her everyday words and actions. With fiery red hair and a personality to match, Soror Haywood showed immense compassion for others as she is often fondly referred to as "the rock" or "the glue". She was the cohesive thread that kept everyone together in her family, Marietta-Roswell, and the groups she touched, as her display of courtesy was always unsurpassed.

Soror Haywood showed tremendous diligence and dedication to family, friends and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. If there was ever help needed, she was there. Brenda enjoyed life and enjoyed serving even more as she stood as an example for others to follow. She offered honesty in all her opinions, simply telling it like it is, all the while doing it in love. She offered a pure and un-judgmental ear in all situations and sought justice in all that is fair. She understood that the true essence of sisterhood is displayed through fellowship and approached all circumstances and tasks with temperance to see them through to completion. She assumed responsibility with great fidelity as she has served assiduously on many committees and held leadership roles on all levels of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, understanding that the purpose is much greater than oneself.

In the words of Past National President Mona Humphries Bailey, "if not us, who; if not now, when", Soror Haywood took those words to heart and dedicated every moment to what was most important in her life. Her unwavering devotion to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter is why we pay tribute. She was a soror, a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend committed to Delta and committed to you. We remember her life as exemplary. Her legacy will continue to live not only through her daughters, whom are both Delta's, her son, and the love of her husband, but also through the impact she has had on each of us. Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter celebrates the life and pays tribute to our very own, Soror Brenda Clark Haywood.
