WELCOME! You have just entered the Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter (MRAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. “CHANGE ZONE.”
During this monumental time in our history, an aura of change embraces our entire nation. As a chapter of over 400 dynamic women committed to Public Service, I have asked each member of MRAC to reaffirm her commitment to the principles, the goals, and the objectives of Delta Sigma Theta nationally and MRAC locally in order to accomplish new things in this nation and in our communities.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in our local communities and throughout the world. The Sorority currently has over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
· Economic Development
· Educational Development
· International Awareness and Involvement
· Physical and Mental Health
· Political Awareness and Involvement
Over the next two years, MRAC will implement new forums and events that complement already-developed programs. Our goals include promoting academic excellence through mentoring and scholarships and providing support to the underserved through empowering community outreach initiatives.
MRAC is committed to positively impacting and ultimately changing the lives of individuals and families in our service area. We strive to build bridges that bring together our communities with government offices, its programs and resources. By creating effective communication and understanding between local government and the community, we bridge the gaps that impede cooperation, opportunities, and equity in delivery of services to those who would benefit the most. I invite all who visit these pages to join MRAC as we embrace this journey of change that is already affecting the lives of many. Most importantly though, let’s embrace a commitment to “BE the Difference for Change” that we all want to see in our communities and in this nation.
